Sprints 🏃‍♂️ (week 7)

So this week, President Heap issued a challenge to the whole mission! As a mission, from Monday the 5th to Sunday the 11th, we had a goal to have 1000 spirit led invitations for new friends to be taught, 500 spirit led invitations to read the book of mormon, 500 spirit led invitations to come to church, and 250 member lessons set up. President Heap said that so much of a mission and of life is like running a marathon, but this week was the time to sprint. And sprint we did! As a mission we had 894 invites to church, 306 2-1-2 lessons set up, 1603 invitations to be taught, and 736 invitations to read the Book of Mormon! So that was awesome. It was a great week.

 So our Facebook finding efforts took up a lot of our time this week. But last Monday, we had a little district p-day that almost turned into a zone p-day 😂. We carved pumkins and played some soccer. 

 On Tuesday we had interviews with President Heap! It was amazing to be able to talk with President Heap. Unfortunately, by the time he got to our companionship he was already like an hour behind schedule. We had a really good, short conversation! I was a bit disappointed that I didn't have more time with him, but we have an amazing mission leadership here with President and Sister Heap. They are amazing! 

 We also went live again on Tuesday. It was our last part of our breakdown of King Benjamin's address. But I think I'm going to breakdown Alma chapter 5 on my own this Tuesday night at 8 so stay tuned for that! I'm super excited for it.

 Tuesday was also 1 year from when I put in my availability date for my mission! After almost 10 and a half months I finally made it out to the mission field 😂

 On Wednesday we did some service for the food bank at their warehouse. We bagged and boxed a lot of plums! We also met with our new friend Iyonna. She is awesome and we have loved the opportunity to get to know her better! We studied in the book of revelation!

 Thursday we did a lot of finding. I got a new record of 14 responses on Facebook! We also met with our friend Boone again, and had a zone conference. The Sisters experienced an amazing miracle on Thursday though and were able to put their friend Teresa on date for baptism! Teresa is awesome and I am super happy for her to enter the waters of baptism!

 On Friday we did more work for the food bank in their gardens over by Okemos. That was fun!

 On Saturday we dropped off a Book of Mormon to our friend Nick. We also met again with Tom! 

 On Sunday we had in person church which was awesome! We also had another lesson with the amazing Donnelly family! We talked about temple marriage and sealings! We also had an awesome mission devotional with the guest speaker being President Ward, he is the Stake President of the Ann Arbor stake. He shared some awesome stories about his mission and he is an oral surgeon, and he lost his thumb and still does surgery! He's pretty awesome and he had some great thoughts.

Hello everyone and happy new year!  It has been a great week here in Michigan! We are coming up on the very last week of the transfer now which is crazy! This week our companionship was able to coordinate and lead a pilot program for a new social media initiative we are trying to launch. 2 of the missions zones are participating in this pilot program so that we can get some projected numbers together for the mission. We are doing something that really no other mission has done and that is the use of area and subject matter specific Facebook groups. We have some really cool early successes and we are excited to see what comes out of it all.  Our zone has also been in a content competition with the Jackson zone which our companionship and the Jackson SMS companionship have launched. Our content creation was out of this world! We have a document where missionaries enter their captions for their content and that document went from being 1 page long to being 117 pages long. I...

Sprint Week Vol. III, Featuring the Craziest Day of My Mission so Far (Week 25)

Hello everyone! It has been a very eventful week here in Michigan! Such an amazing blessing as our mission had the opportunity to sprint once again! We set high goals as a mission this time, 1400 invites to church, 800 member lessons set, 2300 invites to be taught, and 1000 invites to read the Book of Mormon! After some good effort, our companionship was able to accomplish all of our goals and our mission crushed our sprint week goals! On Saturday, we were lacking behind a bit especially for invites to church, and in the morning devotional, President Heap challenged us to get 750 invites to church that day and President Gentile gave an amazing hype up devotional. As a mission we more than doubled that number on Saturday! It was amazing to be a part of.   Tuesday however was crazy! In the morning we had a housing inspection which was fun! 1st P-day at Home MTC

1st P-Day at Home MTC Hello everyone! It's safe to say that I am much closer to home than I had anticipated being 3 days into my mission. The online MTC experience has been an interesting one thus far! I wake up at 6:30, get ready, do my personal studies, then my companionship studies, then the rest of the day so far has been fair game. I will have at least one class with my district of 12 missionaries, including myself, that usually takes about 3 hours. Then I will usually have a workshop which is kind of an online seminar with other missionaries. On Wednesday, there were 270 missionaries present in the workshop. They had all either arrived at the MTC that day or had begun their online training. Yesterday the workshop had about 70 missionaries and should have about that number until I complete my training.  My companion is Elder Eckhart, he is from a small town about an hour east of Sacramento California.
