Jake's South African Adventure

Hello everyone! It has been another great week in Michigan! Last Tuesday I made a bunch of cookies and some giant cookies which was super fun.  On Wednesday we had an awesome district council and we talked about bearing pure testimony, and we all had the opportunity to bear our testimonies and it was a super spiritual time.  Thursday we had some lessons. We also had to sweep the church because the sisters had called us the night before and said that they had to leave the church in a rush because there was some sketchy stuff and they all felt like they should leave. We went through the building and didn't find anything. It was kind of fun though. On Friday, President Nelson gave an amazing message of hope and healing. What an amazing message and an amazing experience. If there's anyone who didn't get the chance to watch it, please do. It is exactly the message we needed to hear during this troublesome time. That message has benefited me so much already. #givethanks

Hello everyone! So sorry I didn't have time to get my weekly out last week, it has been very busy but very good here in Michigan! Last week we had the opportunity to go to the Zoo here in Lansing which was amazing! It was super fun. Last Tuesday I turned 20, which was insane! Elder Averill made me some breakfast (he may or may not have set off the smoke alarm in the process). We had a lesson, did some service, and then I made myself some birthday pancakes in the evening 😂 . It was a good day! I was well taken care of by some of the amazing missionaries in my district. Last Thursday, as Social media specialists, we hosted a training for Facebook finding for all the new missionaries and their companions. It went really well and we really enjoyed giving the training!  We had a really special experience last Friday. Here in Meridian, we have to pay for our laundry in quarters. Which has been kind of a burden, it has definitely drained a lot of our funds but we have managed. The

Hello everyone! This week was a good one! On Tuesday we met with our friend Dominique again. And she is just amazing, since our last meeting she read the entire chapter of 1 Nephi! She told us the story about when I first got in contact with her over Facebook, and I invited her to meet with us. She said that she talked to a friend who's grandfather was a really big pastor in the area, and he told Dominique that "Jake Oswald" was this notorious tithe stealer. That he has stolen thousands of dollars from the church and was an awful person. Dominique said that she thought that the literal devil was contacting her. And its me, just some kid from Idaho. So she soon realized that my intentions were pure and she agreed to meet with us and she is just great. So apparently, there's some guy with my name stealing tithes 😂 We have also been having a lot of meetings with our friend Hiram, and he is just amazing too! He understands doctrine so well and he truly wants to learn
